Vattakottai Fort
An 18th-century Travancore sea fort built as a coastal defence and barracks. Its granite walls run out to the edge of the water, and it is one of the best views on the east coast.
Rider tip. Carry water and a cap: there is little shade on the ramparts. Check current timings before you ride out.
