Riding the monsoon: what changes in Kanyakumari district

The Southwest monsoon brings strong wind to the open plains and a wet, green light to the ghats. Roads that are fast in winter become slippery, the rubber-estate tracks turn to slush and the waterfalls run at full power.

Wear proper waterproofs, ride a gear lower than you think you need, and stay off the hill roads after dark. It is also the most beautiful time for photographs.
